I have always loved animals. I grew up in downtown Chicago so I was never able to have the kind of pets I wanted. I had gerbils and birds but I always wanted to have a big dog.

Although plenty of buildings allow dogs, it is impractical to have a dog in the city. When I got married, we decided to move to Palatine, IL. I was excited to be making the move because it meant I could finally get the dog I had always wanted. I ended up adopting two dogs. One was an old bloodhound mix and the puppy was a mutt. The puppy was incredibly hyper and energetic. He ran around 24/7. I didn’t mind because the house we bought was big and there was enough yard space for him to play in. I was thrilled to have found such a great home. I was also excited that Palatine was so dog friendly. The city has so many parks and green areas to take the dogs to play in. I love being able to walk the dogs without worrying about traffic. Even though having two dogs is such a handful, I am thinking about adding another one to the group!
