Palatine’s Park Districts
As an environmentalist I have always wanted to live in places that practice conservation and make the environment a priority. I moved to Palatine several years ago when I came to work for the Salt Creek Rural Park District. It is one of two park districts in Palatine along with the Palatine Park District. The Salt Creek district was formed more than fifty years ago. Their mission statement is to provide for the community a quality park and recreation system that is committed to excellence in service and facilities, as well as being sensitive to individuals and economics.
I think that the district definitely lives up to its promise to the community. Not only do they do their part to maintain green areas and take care of the parks, they also provide lots of entertainment for residents. Every year there is a triathlon, organized volleyball leagues, dance classes and holiday celebrations. The Palatine Park district also organizes many events throughout the year. They have activities for everyone from small children to senior citizens.
