Palatine Transportation

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

Here is some information about Palatine transportation for people who are considering relocation. Palatine is located about 30 miles north from the Loop in Chicago. It is only 15 miles from O’Hare airport. The Metra train system goes from Downtown Palatine to Downtown Chicago every day, several times a day.

Within Palatine there are two PACE bus routes that operate during the weekdays. Palatine is not well suited for people who do not have private transportation but getting around without a car isn’t impossible.

Because Palatine is so small, it is not difficult to get around on foot during the warmer months. It is also possible to rely solely on public transportation depending on where you work and live. Public transportation can be cheaper and easier than owning a car, but most people who use public transport usually also own a car.

When looking for a home in Palatine, you want to keep in mind what type of transportation you want to use. It is important to consult with someone who is familiar with the town and knows what it has to offer. Your real estate agent is the perfect person to ask. Palatine’s Park Districts

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

As an environmentalist I have always wanted to live in places that practice conservation and make the environment a priority. I moved to Palatine several years ago when I came to work for the Salt Creek Rural Park District. It is one of two park districts in Palatine along with the Palatine Park District. The Salt Creek district was formed more than fifty years ago. Their mission statement is to provide for the community a quality park and recreation system that is committed to excellence in service and facilities, as well as being sensitive to individuals and economics.

I think that the district definitely lives up to its promise to the community. Not only do they do their part to maintain green areas and take care of the parks, they also provide lots of entertainment for residents. Every year there is a triathlon, organized volleyball leagues, dance classes and holiday celebrations. The Palatine Park district also organizes many events throughout the year. They have activities for everyone from small children to senior citizens.

Transportation in Palatine

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

When looking at relocating, transportation options are high on the list of things to consider. The price of gas is getting more and more expensive, which is only contributing to the popularity of public transport.

In most cases, public transport is more convenient. In Palatine, the most popular form of transport is personal automobiles. Palatine is a small city so there isn’t much demand for public transportation. However, that doesn’t mean it is not available. Palatine has two public bus systems that run throughout the city PACE and the CTA.

While only a moderate amount of residents rely on the bus systems, it is still cheaper for them to take the bus and is also better for the environment. There are also Metra stations located in Palatine, which travel through the city and into surrounding towns. Although it is unlikely that Palatine residents would rely solely on public transport, it is convenient to use it in combination with private automobiles.

Some might find it works well to use public transport to get to work and school and to use a car for everything else. If you are considering relocating to Palatine you may want to discuss your transportation preferences with your real estate agent. Your agent can help you find a home that corresponds with your transportation needs. To find a Palatine real estate agent visit www.realestateinpalatineil.com.

Sell Your Palatine Home Quickly

Monday, July 21st, 2008

Selling your home can be very stressful. There are many details to attend to and many people end up feeling overwhelmed. It is important that the house is in the best condition possible and sometimes that takes time.

Sometimes repairs have to made which means money has to be spent. When my two youngest children finally moved out, my husband and I decided we were to downsize. We were tired of all the maintenance required for our front and back yards. Our house was more than 2,500 square ft, which is way too much room for just the two of us. Before we could put our Palatine home on the market, there were some changes we had to make. We had years of clutter to get rid of and a roof repair that had to be done. We also repainted the entire inside in order to make it more presentable. After a couple of months of making small repairs we were finally ready to sell. We sold our house quickly thanks to our real estate agent. She went beyond the call of duty to make sure every last detail was taken care of.

We were even able to sell our home at our initial asking price, which we didn’t expect would happen. My husband and I are now living in a small two- bedroom condo. We are so much more relaxed. If you need help selling your home www.realestateinpalatineil.com can help make it a less stressful experience.

Finding a Palatine Home to Retire in

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

After my husband’s retirement, we decided we wanted to buy a bigger home. Because we would be spending so much more time at home, we wanted to be as comfortable as possible. We were living in a condo in downtown Palatine. As we got older, we wanted to be closer to ground level so that we didn’t always have to worry about stairs and elevators. We put it up for sale and began searching for a large home.

My husband and I have several children all of which have children of their own. They live out of state and when they came to visit we wanted them to be able to stay with us instead of in a hotel, so we wanted something with several bedrooms. We also wanted to have a small yard that wouldn’t take too much time to maintain.

We also wanted a big kitchen and dining room so we could entertain more often. With help from our real estate agent from www.realestateinpalatineil.com, we found our dream home in no time at all. A friend of mine had recommended the site to us. Our agent found us our home and also sold our condo. We were thrilled to have done everything in such a small time frame. Our children came to visit shortly after and they absolutely love the house. Many people think that all the houses in the suburbs are exactly the same. That’s definitely not true in Palatine. Our house is definitely unique.

When we were looking for houses we encountered a lot of diversity. Each neighborhood is different and has its own feel. There are big houses, small houses, midsize homes and condos. If we hadn’t known exactly what we wanted, it would have been a tough choice to make. Palatine’s homes are all so pretty.

Palatine is Pet Friendly

Monday, July 7th, 2008

I have always loved animals. I grew up in downtown Chicago so I was never able to have the kind of pets I wanted. I had gerbils and birds but I always wanted to have a big dog.

Although plenty of buildings allow dogs, it is impractical to have a dog in the city. When I got married, we decided to move to Palatine, IL. I was excited to be making the move because it meant I could finally get the dog I had always wanted. I ended up adopting two dogs. One was an old bloodhound mix and the puppy was a mutt. The puppy was incredibly hyper and energetic. He ran around 24/7. I didn’t mind because the house we bought was big and there was enough yard space for him to play in. It was easy to find a house with a yard because there are so many of them in Palatine. We bought a comfortable mid sized home with a big lawn that we found through www.realestateinpalatineil.com.

I was thrilled to have found such a great home. I was also excited that Palatine was so dog friendly. The city has so many parks and green areas to take the dogs to play in. I love being able to walk the dogs without worrying about traffic. Even though having two dogs is such a handful, I am thinking about adding another one to the group!
